The play shows a number of teenagers in an extraordinary situation - because they happen to be underground in a specially contrived shelter and therefore have managed to survive a nuclear explosion which has wiped out virtually everyone else for hundreds of miles around. The subject, which could be a depressong one, is handled by the author with such skill that the play is instead both amusing and inspiring.
