Based on "Girl in A Wheelchair" by Colin Wilson

PRODUCTION NOTES

Auditions for A Cry in the Night took place on Wednesday 2nd December at 7:30pm at the Prospect Playhouse and a decision was made by the Director to stage the production with two casts, one to be calkled "The Prospect Players" and the other "The Playhouse Players"..

CRY IN THENIGHT is a thriller with a "twist" in its tail. It was first performedby the CDS (under the name "Girl in a Wheelchair") at the HarquailTheatre ten years ago. It was so successful a further week was added to its run. The "Caymanian Compass" called it a "first rate thriller with areally surprising end".

CRY IN THE NIGHT is about a young girl who is aparaplegic and recovering from a mental breakdown after a motor accidentand drug addiction. She returns to her father's home on an island in theCaribbean to meet his new wife and his step children. Her father is notthere and no one seems to know when he will return which greatly disturbsher. She is introduced to a doctor who purports to know her and herfather although she has no recollection of him. It is obvious there is a"relationship" between the doctor and her stepmother. She then startshearing her father calling to her as a cry in the night.......

His Excellency The Governor John Owen CMG MBE attended with his wife Carol on Friday March 12th. Since it would be Mr Owen's final attendance as Governor of the Cayman Islands, a presentation was made to him at the end of the performance by Colin Wilson, Chairman of CDS. In addition, a bouquet was presented to Mrs. Owen. In an unusual gesture, the final 10 minutes of the play was repeated by the second cast, providing His Excellency and the rest oif the audience with a contrast in styles between the Prospect crew and the Playhouse crew.
