Hi y’all!

Our next club night is going to be on Saturday 14^th October, and is taking the form of an “Improv” night.  I have the task of organizing it.

First of all, I need to arrange the preparation and serving of a finger-food buffet.  My plan is to attempt to recreate (as nearly as possible) the food we served at the gala reopening of the Playhouse and opening night of Peter Pan, which proved to be immensely popular.  However, we sold out on that night so it was impossible for the majority of the membership to join in and get some of the food, hence my idea of recreating the menu.

My loyal “chefettes” last time were Anne Pasold, Regina Oliver, Cathy Wight, Pat Bazell-Taylor and myself.  Anne is off the island, but I am hoping that the four of us might be able to manage.  Can you confirm that you’ll be able to help?

Second, the format for the evening should go something like this:

Doors open at 7.00 p.m., finger food buffet is ready to go, and we have some entertainment (I am going to ask Anita Wheaton if she can arrange a “sing along”, but other suggestions would be very welcome) for the first 45 minutes.  During this time, as teams arrive at the box office and pay a very reasonable admission fee per person, they will be given an envelope with a description of what they have to enact.  The organizing committee will have put on stage various properties for use by the teams, based on the enactments that will have to be performed.  All those not participating (and those that are but are sitting in the audience while awaiting their turn on stage) will be given score cards to mark up for each performance.  The resulting winning team will get a prize (yet to be decided upon).

The whole evening will require a lot of organization, especially in the selection of the acts, because we do not want any pre-rehearsed pieces – everything must be done spontaneously.  So those who pick the acts will not be able to perform.

This email is going out to those members I feel might be able to contribute towards this event without wanting to get up on stage!  Please let me hear from you, and then we can have a get-together and firm things up.
